Stack's Bowers February 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73419

This specimen was lot 73419 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $140. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 50 Centavos, 1875/4-Ho R. Hermosillo Mint. PCGS AU-50. Overdate variety. A wholesome example without much in the way of wear, this piece offers a clear overdate along with deep ashy toning." Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Hermosillo is slightly scarce; no premium is awarded the overdate.
