This specimen was lot 71220 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Escudos, 1831-MoJM. NGC VF-35. EXTREMELY RARE date, this cataloger only knows of one other example. Even wear and defect free, a very presentable example on this date. From our January, 2011 sale, lot # 139 where it hammered at $1800." This denomination was struck at Mexico City 1825-33, 1841-63, 1868-69 altho the SCWC does not award any date a premium.
