Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 57191

This specimen was lot 57191 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1886-Ga JS. Guadalajara Mint. PCGS MS-63." The Guadalajara mint, originally opened during the War of Independence, struck this type 1825-95. In addition to the regular issue shown here, the SCWC reports an overassayer, JS/H, but awards it no premium.

Recorded mintage: 1,038,999, a common date.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver.
