Mexico 1886-Cn M 50 centavos

Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Culiacan is a scarce date for the mint. A rare overassayer, M/G, is also listed. Like most fifty centavos, high grade specimens are extremely rare. This specimen was lot 9159 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $1,035. The catalog description^[1] noted, “MEXICO. Culiacan. 50 Centavos, 1886-CnM. Scarce date and possibly the finest known. Beautifully toned, very attractive. NGC AU-58.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
