Stack's Bowers February 2022 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74638

This specimen was lot 74638 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1887-Ga JS. Guadalajara Mint. NGC AU-55. A charming and lightly handled example, this marvelous piece offers much substantial details and beautiful mint luster diffuse throughout." The Guadalajara mint, originally opened during the War of Independence, struck this type 1825-95.

Recorded mintage: 878,000.
