from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 77136

This specimen was lot 77136 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $336. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1887-Cn AM. Culiacan Mint. PCGS MS-63." This date from the Culiacan mint is common. Assayer AM is known for 1882-99. The Culiacan mintmark, originally a plain "C", was changed to "C^N" in 1874 although some 1885 dated coins are known with a "C". The mint was closed in 1905 and was the last branch mint along with Zacatecas.

Recorded mintage: 732,000.
