Mexico 1887-Ga S 10 centavos

from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 71305

This specimen was lot 71305 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1887-Ga S. Guadalajara Mint. NGC MS-64. Highest grade of just two examples in the NGC Census. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." This specimen is a common date of a series struck 1871-77, 1881-95 at the Guadalajara mint. The Guadalajara mint was opened in 1812 during the War of Independence and closed in 1895 along with Alamos, Chihuahua, Durango and Hermosillo.

Recorded mintage: 162,000.
