Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Durango is common for the mint but still priced in the SCWC at double a common Guanajuato date. This specimen was lot 9175 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $805. The catalog description[1] noted, “MEXICO. Durango. 50 Centavos, 1887-DoC. Rare grade for this mint. Lightly toned. NGC MS-62.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: 28,000.
