The first specimen shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. The second specimen was lot 9213 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $632.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Mexico City. 50 Centavos, 1887-MoM. Light attractive toning. NGC MS-63.” The third specimen was lot 9214 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $345. The catalog description[1] noted, “MEXICO. Mexico City. 50 Centavos, 1887-MoM. NGC MS-62.” This issue from Mexico City is a common date, tho the SCWC gives it a 50% premium. Other mints include Hermosillo, Zacatecas, Durango, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Alamos and Potosi. The SCWC records an overdate, 1887/6.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
