Mexico 1887-Do MC 8 reales

Stack's Bowers February 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72103

This specimen was lot 72103 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $432. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1887-Do MC. Durango Mint. NGC MS-62. A bright and attractive nearly-Choice example, this tremendous specimen yields a vibrant argent nature and charming details throughout." This specimen is one of the later dates from the Durango mint. The Durango mint opened in 1811 and closed in 1895. Most of the later dates, including this one, are plentiful.

Recorded mintage: 1,004,000.
