Stack's Bowers September 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 71371

This specimen was lot 71371 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Franc, Year 12-M (1803/4). Toulouse Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, EF Details. Part of the initial series with Napoleon as emperor, this minor does exhibit some minor cleaning and circulation, but remains quite charming and pleasing as well. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Jean Vinchon in Paris on 19 September 1972 for $76)." This type was struck years 12-14 and the Paris mint product is moderately common.

Recorded mintage: 300,044 plus the Premier Consul type (F.200/16)[2], a scarce date.

Specification: 5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 23 mm diameter, decorated edge.
