Stack's Bowers 2025 ANA sale, lot 43331

This specimen was lot 43331 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Consulate. Franc, Year XI-MA (1802/3). Marseille Mint. Napoleon as First Consul. PCGS EF-45. Lightly toned and subtly toned, this RARITY remains without issue and sports a charming portrait of the first consul soon to be crowned emperor. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Patrick Guillard at New York City ANA on 31 July 1997 for $395)." This type was struck years XI and 12 and the Paris mint product is moderately common (52.9% of the total minted).

Recorded mintage: 11,503, a very scarce date.

Specification: 5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 23 mm diameter, decorated edge.
