Sincona sale 73, lot 1235

This specimen was lot 1235 in Sincona sale 73 (Zürich, November 2021), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,094 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE | Kingdom. Consulat, 1799-1804. 5 Francs AN XI (1802-03) L, Bayonne. Fast vorzüglich. (kingdom of France, consulate, 1799-1804, five francs of the year XI, Bayonne mint. About extremely fine.)"

This type was struck AN XI-12 in fairly large quantities but this date is rare.

Recorded mintage: 85,867.

Specification: 37 mm diameter, 25 grams, 0.900 fine silver, lettered edge, this specimen 24.90 g.
