Mexico 1871-Mo M 10 centavos

from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 71366

This specimen was lot 71366 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $192. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1871-Mo M. Mexico City Mint. NGC EF-40. Only example in NGC Census. Attractive toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Mexico City mint struck silver ten centavos of this design 1869-97. No date is actually rare although the 1871-M^O C and 1896-M^O M are scarce. This is a slightly better date.

Recorded mintage: 84,000, including assayer C.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
