Künker sale 386, lot 5074

This specimen was lot 5074 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €340 (about US$439 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Karl I. 1735-1780. 1/4 Albertustaler 1748, Braunschweig. Min. justiert, vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 206, Osnabrück 2012, Nr. 4810. (duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Charles I, 1735-80, quarter 'Albertus' thaler of 1748, Brunswick mint. Minor adjustment marks, extremely fine.)"

The quarter 'Albertus' thaler was struck 1748 only, to a different weight standard than that of the convention thaler (28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver). It was not a success.
