Künker sale 386, lot 5072

This specimen was lot 5072 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €2,000 (about US$2,585 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Karl I. 1735-1780. Reichstaler 1747, Zellerfeld. Ausbeute der Grube Güte des Herrn. Feine Patina, vorzüglich +. (duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Charles I, 1735-80, "Goodness of the Lord" mining thaler of 1747, Zellerfeld mint. Fine patina, choice extremely fine.)"

This thaler was struck 1743, 1745 and 1747-48 to honor the "Goodness of the Lord" mine. All dates are expensive tho none are rare. A similar thaler, honoring the same mine, is known from the German state of Hannover (Dav-2100).
