Mexico 1847-Go PM 4 escudos

from the Stack's Bowers 2017 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72589

This specimen was lot 72589 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $705. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Escudos, 1847/6-GoPM. NGC VF-35. VERY RARE date." The Guanajuato mint struck four escudos 1829-63 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; most surviving four escudos are from this mint. Long notes this date as "extremely rare."^[2]
