Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Zacatecas is rare. This specimen was lot 9231 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $172.50. The catalog description[1] noted, “MEXICO. Zacatecas. 50 Centavos, 1886-ZsZ. RARE date. Cleaned, a few edge marks. VERY FINE.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: 2,000.
