This specimen was lot 31330 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 20 Pesos 1871 Go-S MS62 NGC, Guanajuato mint. Lustrous Mint State and well struck with the expected handling marks for the designation. An attractive specimen and very scarce in this grade. From The Valle de la Rana Collection." This type was struck at Guanajuato 1870-1900 and is among the more available mints.

Recorded mintage: 20,000.

Specification: 33.84 g, 0.875 fine gold, .952 troy oz AGW.
