Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Zacatecas is common. This specimen was lot 9220 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $517.50. The catalog description[1] noted, “MEXICO. Zacatecas. 50 Centavos, 1871-ZsH. Nice strike. Dark toned and very attractive. NGC MS-61.”
Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
