This specimen was lot 71460 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1890-Z_ Z. Zacatecas Mint. NGC AU-58. Error with missing 's' in mintmark. Only example graded by NGC. Very scarce error in very rare condition. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." This date marks the third in a series of “Z Z” errors, where the “s” was omitted from the mintmark. Similar errors are known for 1886, 1888, 1896 and 1897. The regular date is common, this error is somewhat scarce. The Zacatecas mint was one of four mints that struck the ten centavos with the redesigned eagle, starting in 1898.

Recorded mintage: 410,000, all varieties.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
