This specimen was lot 72654 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1890-Ga JS. Guadalajara Mint. PCGS MS-62. A boldly and vividly toned example exhibiting deep royal blue and purple shades on the reverse. A satiny texture on each side remains overall smooth and virtually untroubled even under close inspection. The obverse devices exhibit somewhat bold pronouncement, with very little softness to the border elements. The reverse motifs also show considerable intricacy, adding to the overall attractiveness of the coin." A common date from Guadalajara, which struck this type 1825-95. Assayer JS is listed for 1885-95.
