This specimen was lot 11207 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $411. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1889-GaJS. PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder." The Guadalajara mint produced large quantities of eight reales 1825-95 and most later dates are readily available, including this one. Assayer JS is listed for 1885-95.

Recorded mintage: 1,583,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
