This specimen is a slightly better date of a series struck 1873-90 at the Durango mint. This 25 centavos piece replaced the two reales struck since colonial times. It was replaced by a smaller twenty centavos piece in 1898. While some dates from Durango are common, others are extremely rare with less than half a dozen known to exist, making this series very challenging to complete.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: 28,904.

Catalog reference: KM 406.3.
