Stack's Bowers 2026 ANA sale, lot 40363

This specimen was lot 40363 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, August 2026), where it sold for $3,172. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2-1/2 Pesos, 1882-Mo M. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-62. Second highest graded at NGC. Reflective surfaces. From the Kirk Menczer Collection." The type is recorded from Culiacan, Durango, Guanajuato, Alamos, Hermosillo and Zacatecas but Mexico City is by far the most prolific issuer. The series, never popular, ended in 1893.
