Mexico 1882-Go S 50 centavos

from the Stack's Bowers sale of the Kirk Menczer Collection, lot 72252

This specimen was lot 72252 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $456. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 50 Centavos, 1882-Go S. Guanajuato Mint. NGC AU-55. Second finest and highest numerically graded by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Guanajuato is common, despite the tiny mintage reported. Like all fifty centavos of the republic, it is very rare in high grade.

Recorded mintage: 18,000, a common date.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
