Mexico 1882-Do C 50 centavos

Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Durango is scarce, priced in the SCWC at four times a common Guanajuato date. This specimen was lot 9173 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $230. The catalog description^[1] noted, “MEXICO. Durango. 50 Centavos, 1882-DoC. Minor planchet porosity, sharply struck, toned, attractive. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.”

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
