SB1025-71346r.jpg

This specimen was lot 71346 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1882/1-Ho A. Hermosillo Mint. NGC MS-61. Finest and only Mint State of four graded at NGC. Large "A" variety. Attractive obverse toning. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Hermosillo mint struck silver ten centavos 1874-93 and a number of dates are quite rare. This date is fairly common but all seem to be overdates. The variety with small "a" for the assayer is slightly better.

Recorded mintage: 25,000.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM-403.6.
