This specimen was part of lot 73193 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $915. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Group of 2 Reales (12 Pieces), 1845-65. Zacatecas Mint. Grade Range: FINE to VERY FINE. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. Zacatecas was a major producer of two reales, striking them 1825-70. Assayer OM (Manuel Ochoa and Manuel Miner) served 1831-56 and this is a common date. The SCWC cites no varieties for the year.
