This specimen was lot 73056 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $341.60. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1853/1-Ga JG. Guadalajara Mint. NGC AU-50. KM-374.6. Second finest of three graded by NGC and highest numerically graded. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. The Guadalajara mint struck two reales 1825-62 and many dates are fairly common. Assayer JG (Juan de Dios Guzman) is recorded for 1836-67. No regular date is noted.
