The specimen shown was struck in Guanajuato, one of a type struck irregularly 1845-62. Long[1] claims only three are known to exist; there are probably a few more. The author notes one die marriage. Two escudos as a group are nearly as scarce as the four escudos.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.875 fine gold, .190 troy oz AGW.
