Mexico 1843Go 2 reales rev DSLR.jpg

Shown is an 1845GaMC two reales, one of a type struck at the Guadalajara mint 1825-62. Assayer MC (Manuel Cueras) is recorded this mint for the years 1840-45 as well as assayer JG (Juan de Dios Guzman) for 1845. Other mints include Guanajuato, Mexico City, Alamos, Hermosillo, Zacatecas, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Potosi, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and Guadalupe y Calvo. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated. This mintmark is slightly better for two reales but no special premium is attached to this date. This specimen is an 1845/3, noted along with an 1845/4.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.76 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 374.6.
