Stack's Bowers ANA sale, lot 41349

This specimen was lot 41349 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $528. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Zacatecas. 1/4 Real, 1845. Zacatecas Mint. NGC VG-10. A VERY RARE date for this three-year issue. While undeniably circulated, it displays an even wear pattern and remains free of any damage or distractions. Medium brown patina lends a vintage charm. From the EMO Collection." This specimen is one of a series of brass quarter reales issued 1825-64 by the "free and sovereign" state of Zacatecas.
