Mexico 1845-Ga JG 4 reales
This specimen was lot 21064 in Heritage sale 61630 (Dallas, February 2024), where it sold for $408. The lot description[1] noted, "Mexico: Republic 4 Reales 1845 Ga-JG XF45 NGC, Guadalajara mint. Exceedingly attractive when illuminated and one of only two currently certified." The Guadalajara mint struck four reales for the Republic 1843-50, 1855-60 and 1863. Altho the mint overall is not rare, many individual dates are. This date carries no premium in the SCWC but is likely one of the latter. For 1845, the SCWC lists assayers MC and JG. Other mints for 1845 include Guadalupe y Calvo, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi and Zacatecas.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
