Shown is an 1844GaMC 2 reales, one of a type struck at the Guadalajara mint 1825-62. Assayer MC (Manuel Cueras) is recorded this mint for the years 1840-45. Other mints include Guanajuato, Mexico City, Alamos, Hermosillo, Zacatecas, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Potosi, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and Guadalupe y Calvo. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated. This mintmark is slightly better for two reales but no special premium is attached to this date.
