Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, lot 72408

This specimen was lot 72408 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $2,684. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1841-Pi JS. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC MS-63. Finest of just three examples graded by NGC. Very nice early example of mint. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." One reales were struck at San Luis Potosi 1831, 1837-62 and individual dates vary from common to rare. Assayer JS (Juan Sanabria) served 1827-42. Unlike the half real, where gem specimens turn up occasionally, one reales nearly always appear heavily circulated.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common for the mint.
