This specimen was lot 21143 in Heritage sale 61630 (Dallas, February 2024), where it sold for $228. The lot description[1] noted, "Mexico: Republic 8 Reales 1830 Zs-OV XF40 NGC, Zacatecas mint." The Zacatecas mint opened in 1811, during the War of Independence, and operated until 1905, being the last branch mint, along with Culiacan, to close. Assayer OV stamped eight reales 1829-31 and this date is common. Zacatecas is tied with Guanajuato as the most prolific mint. Other mints for 1830 include Durango, Estado de Mexico, Guadalajara, Guanajuato, Mexico City and San Luis Potosi.
