Ponterio sale 155, 6284

This specimen was lot 6284 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $517.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guadalajara. 8 Reales, 1830-LP/FS. No countermark, EXCESSIVELY RARE. VERY GOOD." For 1830, the SCWC lists a regular date, assayer FS (scarce), an overdate 1830/29 (rare) and assayer LP (very rare, only known chopmarked--a claim belied by this specimen).
