This specimen was lot 3461 in Goldberg sale 78 (Los Angeles, January 2014), where it sold for $117.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. 2 Reales, 1830-Mo JM. Cap and rays. Softly struck in the center. Brilliant mint luster. NGC graded MS-62." This is one of a type struck at the Mexico City mint 1825-68. Other mints include Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Alamos, Hermosillo, Guadalajara, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Potosi, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and Guadalupe y Calvo. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated. This is a scarce date of a common mint.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.76 g, 0.903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM-374.10.
