This specimen was lot 6277 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $3,737.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Estado De Mexico. 8 Reales, 1830 (3/2)-LF. VERY RARE Estado De Mexico 8 Reales. EXTREMELY RARE overdate. Ex: Ponterio Auction #143, lot #372, where it hammered at $3,500. Slightly weak strike on eagle's breast. EXTREMELY FINE." All coinage of the Estado de Mexico mint, which operated 1828-1830, is scarce and expensive.
