This specimen was lot 73141 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $610. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1830/20-Pi JS. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC EF Details--Cleaned. Finest of four examples graded by NGC. A nice example of this scarce coin. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." The San Luis Potosi mint struck two reales 1829-30, 1837, 1841-46, 1849-50, 1856-63 and 1868-69, with a number of rare dates. Assayer JS (Juan Sanabria) served 1827-42. The SCWC lists the 1830/20-PI as a scarce date with no regular date known. Other mints include Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Alamos, Hermosillo, Mexico City, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Guadalajara, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and Guadalupe y Calvo. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated.
