This specimen was lot 71523 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 5 Pounds, 1998. Llantrisant Mint. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. The first issue with a somewhat older portrait of the queen, this delightful, nearly-flawless Gem radiates with great brilliance and pleasing frosting." This type was struck 1998-2008, as a revival of the old five pounds struck in Victorian and Edwardian times. It was accompanied by a gold sovereign and two pounds, also not intended to circulate. This is an unlisted date.
