This specimen was lot 40378 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 5 Pounds, 1997. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Struck for the 50th (golden) wedding Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip with a mintage of 2,574 pieces. Majestically cameoed with no spots, tone or haze over the surfaces." This commemorative was struck in copper-nickel (KM 977), silver (KM 977a) and gold (KM 977b, shown here).
Recorded mintage: copper-nickel: 1,733,000 plus proofs; silver: est. 70,000; gold: est. 2,750.
