This specimen was lot 1221 in Goldberg's NY International sale 58 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $810. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Elizabeth II (1952-2022). Gold 50 Pence, 1998. National Health Service. Head with tiara right. Rev. Radiant hands. In original black case, Certificate of Authenticity #0519. Choice Gem Proof." Another fifty pence was issued in 1998 to commemmorate the Common Market (KM 992) as well as the regular Britannia reverse (KM 991). Only the gold issues ever appear in auction listings.

Recorded mintage: 5,001,000 plus proofs plus 9,032 in silver plus 1,500 proofs in gold.

Specification: 8 g, copper-nickel, 27.3 mm diameter, or 8 g, 0.925 fine silver, or 15.50 g, 0.917 fine gold, 0.4568 ounce AGW.
