This specimen was lot 71502 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 50 Pounds, 1998. Llantrisant Mint. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. Quite vibrant and alluring, this glistening example represents the pinnacle in striking fineness." This type was struck 1998-2000 with an updated bust of the queen. It was accompanied by KM 1011 (₤100), KM 1009 (₤25) and KM 1008 (₤10).
