This specimen was lot 71501 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 50 Pounds, 1995. Llantrisant Mint. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. A beautifully flawless example with mirrored fields and frosted devices." This type was struck 1990-96. The prior type (KM 953) varied in being alloyed with copper instead of silver. It was accompanied by KM 953a (₤100), KM 951a (₤25) and KM 950a (₤10).

Recorded mintage: 500.

Specification: 17.03 g, 0.917 fine gold, 27 mm diameter, 0.50 troy oz AGW.
