Great Britain 1995 sovereign

from the Stack's Bowers June 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71543

This specimen was lot 71543 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $840. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Sovereign, 1995. Llantrisant Mint. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. Boldly struck with flawless mirror fields and frosted cameo devices." This type was struck 1985-97 for sale to collectors and did not circulate altho some show signs of mishandling.

Recorded mintage: 7,500.

Specification: 7.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, 22 mm diameter, 0.2355 troy oz AGW.
