This specimen was lot 2484 in Goldberg sale 98 (Los Angeles, June 2017), where it sold for $1,528. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Five Pounds, 1995 (U). Elizabeth II. Reverse: St. George slaying dragon. Estimated mintage 1,000. In original case. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated." This type was struck 1985-86 and 1990-97 as a revival of the old five pounds struck in Victorian and Edwardian times. It was accompanied by a gold sovereign and two pounds, also not intended to circulate.

Recorded mintage: 1,000 + 1,250 proofs.

Specification: 39.94 g, 0.917 fine gold, 1.1775 troy oz AGW.
