The first specimen was lot 1224 in Goldberg's NY International sale 58 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $690. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Elizabeth II (1952-2022). Gold 50 Pence, 2000. Public Library. Head with tiara right. Rev. Open book above building. In original red case, Certificate of Authenticity #0465. Choice Gem Proof." This type was struck in 2000 as well as the regular Britannia reverse (KM 991). Only the gold issues (this one is not mentioned in the SCWC) ever appear in auction listings.

Recorded mintage: 11,263,000 plus 100,000 proofs plus 7,634 in silver plus 2,000 proofs in gold.

Specification: 8 g, copper-nickel, 27.3 mm diameter, or 8 g, 0.925 fine silver, or 15.50 g, 0.917 fine gold, 0.4568 ounce AGW.
