This specimen was lot 71525 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 5 Pounds, 2003. Llantrisant Mint. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Incredibly mirrored and exceptionally vibrant, this nearly-perfect example radiates with a tremendous cameo nature." This type was struck 1998-2008, as a revival of the old five pounds struck in Victorian and Edwardian times. It was accompanied by a gold sovereign and two pounds, also not intended to circulate.

Recorded mintage: 2,050 (812 + 2,250 proofs, per the SCWC).

Specification: 39.94 g, 0.917 fine gold, 1.1775 troy oz AGW.
